This piece would be much stronger without referencing Eric Draitser who himself is guilty of the very red-brown/leftist-fascist alliance he correctly accuses Johnstone of. Draitser describes himself as pro-Assad and guess who supports Assad? Fascists from all over Europe including Golden Dawn and Black Lily in Greece, Baked Alaska and the murderers who marched with torches in Charlottesville, CasaPound in Italy, and the SSNP in Lebanon, and David Duke who was an invited guest of the Assad regime. In addition to these fascists, Assad is supported by the Shia jihadists of Hezbollah and the murderous right-wing theocracy of Iran. The Assad regime itself is arguably fascist; at a minimum, it is undeniably Arab supremacist i.e. racist. These are the forces Draitser has sided with in Syria and so he has zero credibility when it comes to criticizing anyone for allying with fascists, rightists, and/or the Alt-Right. Also, it turns out Eric Draitser is a featured writer over at Russia Insider. (He’s also written a lot for RT, a mouthpiece for the right-wing Putin regime which traffics in anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.)

If it’s correct to condemn Johnstone for associating with Russia Insider, we should hold Draitser to the same standard.
