Tulsi Gabbard Agreed with Hillary Clinton — Not Sanders — on $15 Minimum Wage
Shortly after Bernie Sanders’ April 30, 2015 announcement of his 2016 presidential run, he organized a rally on the steps of the Capitol heralding the introduction of Senate legislation to raise the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour. Progressive Caucus chair and congressman Keith Ellison later introduced companion legislation in the House.
So Tulsi Gabbard agreed not with Sanders but with Hillary Clinton on the minimum wage during the presidential primary.
Will Gabbard stick to Clinton’s position or blow with the wind now that Congressional Democrats — including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) — are following Sanders’ and Ellison’s lead and introducing $15 an hour minimum wage legislation? After her recent flip-flops on the Trump-Russia investigation, taking PAC money, and single-payer health care, it seems unlikely that she will stand her ground and continue supporting a Clintonian compromise on the issue. But rest assured, her cult of supporters willcite her flip flop as ‘proof’ that she is indeed a progressive and not a right-wing Democrat with an alarming political history.
